I love this one too as it has a wonderful handle, a blackthorn handle. Hand forged by the village blacksmith in the 1800s.
In the early 1800s, crooks wasn't necessarily something bought complete from the blacksmith. Often it was a collaboration between blacksmith and shepherd where by the shepherd would select his own handle from the hedge.
Again, a gorgeous hand forged rivet attaching the crook to the handle. The whole crook just says rural history. If only it could talk....
